voice artist | actor | director | practitioner

about me

I am a voice artist (represented by Squawk Voices), actor, director and practitioner/teacher.
I have a wealth of commercial voice-over and narration experience, in particular audio book narration working for several publishers and across many genres, especially children's books and crime novels. I love doing them all, but especially children's books. I run workshops and masterclasses on starting out in commercial voice-over and audio narration and have recorded narration reels for graduating students for many years. I also provide mentorship and one to one voice over coaching. I am very interested in the relationship between the voice actor and the microphone, which both disrupts and excites our sense of self and our awareness of personal identity and agency.

As an actor and actor-deviser I have recently performed Two Mums, a two-hander devised work based on the female cast lived experience of fertility, which was then written by award winning writer Sean Prendergast. See The Scotsman's article about Two Mums and our review in the Fringe Review. I am currently creating a solo show based on my lived experience of adoption. My devising interests are the exploration of lived experience and my developed method, The Gallery, a way of responding to stimuli which disrupts the brain's left hemisphere and invites actors to explore artefacts and our response to them anew.
I am an experienced actor trainer; from 2016 - 2019 as Artistic Director of the BA Professional Acting course at Drama Studio, London, where I originally trained as an actor, and from 2019 -2023 at East 15 Acting School. I continue to work freelance at East 15, Italia Conti and Identity School of Acting as a director and teacher. I am currently a fixed term Senior Lecturer in Acting at Norwich University of the Arts.

I teach Uta Hagen technique and have spent time in New York at the Hagen Institute, part of the HB Studio, working intensively on approaches to teaching the method. I specialise in Hagen's Object Exercises and Scene Studies, teaching at E15, Drama Studio, London and as a freelance practitioner all over the world. My freelance work online and in-person takes me to many places from Bahrain, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore to Europe and the UK.
In 2018, Helen Tennison and I co-founded Theatre Foundry, running workshops, courses and sharing practice with professional actors. Our inaugral 10 week course at Omnibus Theatre focused on devising and developing your creative voice, Ways In: Devising & Your Creative Voice. I continue this work as an actor trainer and mentor, director and freelance practitioner.
I have a love of Shakespeare and hold a Masters in Shakespeare and Theatre from The Shakespeare Institute. I am hugely excited by devising new work from classical text, recently directing Curs (inspired by Magnificence & Coriolanus) and #kith&Kin (inspired by Cymbeline).
