Ways In: Devising & Your Creative Identity

Theatre Foundry at Omnibus Theatre, Clapham

ABOUT THEATRE FOUNDRY

Louise and Helen met whilst teaching at Drama Studio London. Theatre Foundry was formed with the desire to provide regular workshops and a sense of autonomy for actors as they navigate the professional world.

This is an an opportunity, across 10 weeks, to discover and explore your unique creative identity, building confidence in your ideas and instincts.  Through devising techniques and acting exercises you will draw on your personal creative vision, whilst building skills as an actor that will empower you in any rehearsal process. You don’t need to be an experienced devisor, or intending to create your own work in order to benefit from this course though, of course, you may be.

You will be introduced to a range of techniques that build, over 10 weekly classes, into a tool kit for creating your own work. By the end of the course you will have arrived at the starting point for a show.  We finish with an informal, celebratory sharing of work.

  • Learn to trust your unique creative voice.

  • Take risks in a supportive environment.

  • Build your performance presence.

  • Develop a devising tool kit.

  • Build your acting skills with exercises drawn from Viewpoints, Image work, Uta Hagen Technique, Physical Theatre and Characterisation, in addition to Helen and Lou's own techniques, developed over their years of teaching and professional practice.

  • Take the first steps in making your own work.

  • An opportunity to test out your performance ideas in front of peers, in an informal setting
